Mein primäres Forschungsziel ist das bessere Verständnis von Klimawandel in der Erdvergangenheit und seine Auswirkungen auf die Paläoumwelt und damalige Ökosysteme. Hierfür nutze ich isotopengeochemische Verfahren in Kombination mit sedimentologischen Analysen.

Understanding past climate and landscape changes and its impacts the environment and the biosphere is my prime research intrest. I work on the reconstruction of Cenozoic paleoclimate and paleoenviroments using isotope geochemical (stable isotope, clumped isotope, and triple oxygen analyses) and sedimentological tools.


Currently, my work focuses on the reconstruction of Miocene paleoclimate and paleoenvironments in western North America and Europe. But I'm also involved in projects on Eocene paleoclimates in the western US (https://www.vewa-project.de/de/) and Europe (Schöningen mining pit) as well as on paleoaltimetry studies of the European Alps and the Gangdese Arc.


I’m also interested in reconstructing fluid flow histories along major fault zones or during hydrothermal alterations using hydrogen or oxygen isotopes as well as triple oxygen isotope systematics. Current projects are on the hydrothermal alterations of Miocene plutons in the Oregon Cascades, fluid flow along metamorphic core complex bounding fault zones, and fluid flow histories on recent Earthquake related fault zones in Japan.
