Information About Upcoming Exams and the Start of the Summer Term

Based on yesterday's extraordinary meeting between the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs and the Deans of Studies of all 14 faculties, the following decisions were made:

“According to the current state (May 19, 2020) examinations will generally be scheduled from May 18, 2020 at the earliest.

Examinations which cannot be postponed for serious reasons (e.g. extension of the duration of studies) can be held via video conference (e.g. Skype) with the consent of the student. If the students do not agree, the examination will be held from May 18, 2020.”

Therefore, all written exams scheduled at the Faculty of Physics and Earth Sciences for the end of March/beginning of April will not take place. Serious reasons can be justified by an application to the examination committee (Physics/Meteorology: pa-phymet[a]; Geography/Geosciences: studium-geo[a]

The State Rectors’ Conference (Landesrektorenkonferenz, LRK) agreed on the need for a Saxony-wide rule for the summer semester 2020. The official start of the semester remains April 6, 2020. Face-to-face teaching is currently scheduled to begin on May 4, 2020. Until the begin of face-to-face teaching, teaching will be carried out with the help of digital formats. The online module registration and online course enrollment will take place as planned.
